Celebration of the Silesian Voivodeship is a perfect occasion to show both sides of the region — the new one and the old one. To show our diversity — from Częstochowa to Żywiec, from Racibórz to Dąbrowa Górnicza. / Jerzy Buzek
Through hundreds of years, the question about the definition of Silesia received many, sometimes contradictory, answers. This region was perceived as a mythological land, inhabited by fairy creatures, as well as a centre of an industrial revolution leading the world towards modernity. Its inhabitants — a multicultural, multinational, multilingual mixture of people — convinced they have found their place to live right in the middle of Europe, filled this space with hundreds of dreams and hopes. Gazing at the satellite image of nightlife in Silesia, we see a flashing galaxy of cities, mysterious score of shadows and lights radiating to the furthest corners of the continent.
