Polish saxophonist records an album with the legends of American jazz.
MaMuGe 3 is another album released by Cultural Institution Ars Cameralis. The album was recorded during a special session in January 2010 in Woodstock/ New York. The artists, who participated in this project, play music from avant-garde borderline with free jazz elements.
Harvey Sorgen has collaborated with musicians such as: Ahmad Jamal, Dewey Redman, Dave Douglas, Mark Feldamn, Wada Leo Smith, Cameron Brown, Bill Frisel, or Fonda Stevens Group. It was at a concert with Fonda Stevens Group in Jazz Club Hipnoza in Katowice, where Maciej Obara met Harvey Sorgen. The recording session in USA was the result of this meeting. Sorgen suggested inviting John Lindberg, a bass player mostly known for his collaboration with Jimmy Lyons, Steve Lacy, Albert Mangelsdorff, or Anthony Braxton.
The session with Harvey Sorgen and John Lindberg was an opportunity for Maciej Obara to meet his idols. The music experience with american musicians turned out to be a great success marked with powerful and sincere energy. The album is called Three and it contains compositions of all three artists.
